More puppies and sheep

I found another puppy! This one belongs to my neighbor, Linda, who lives across the street and raises Jacob sheep. The puppy's name is Zeke and he's a Border Collie.070625zeke

Puppies

I found this adorable Springer Spaniel puppy at the Tacoma Urban Arts Festival this past weekend. I am a sucker for puppies, especially Springers. I have 2 Springer's myself, Oscar and Albert. They're not puppies anymore, but still adorable!

Tacoma Urban Art Festival

I got invited to set up the Woolpets shop at the Tacoma Urban Art Festival tomorrow with the good folks from I Heart Rummage - thanks by the way. Come by and say hi if you're in the neighborhood!

Pig Flies During Sheep

I just got back from seeing Roger Waters in Vancouver, BC on June 21st - as close to Pink Floyd as you can get these days. The show was amazing! We only caught a snippet of video of the infamous pig wandering around above the crowd during the song "Sheep". Fitting, huh?

Sunshine Today

Gloria the turquoise blue mermaid begged me to put her out in the sun today. It's one of the few sunny days we've had here in the great Pacific Northwest this past month. I don't mind the gray. I prefer nice, cool damp weather as opposed to the hot sun. Gloria's going to be in next month's Bainbridge in Bloom Art Festival. It's a fun event in association with the Bainbridge in Bloom Garden Tour. I'm not much of a gardener because I let my sheep mow the lawn and eat all of the flowers! Mermaid

Shout Out to my Dad

My newest business expense is a Strauch finest double-wide drum carder. Not only do I need wool for my Woolpets kits, I also want to start offering dyed and natural Romney wool for needle felting. So I asked my Dad, who is engineer extraordinaire to help me figure out how to motorize the thing. It is super easy to hand crank, but I am anticipating a large volume of orders for wool and I need to save my arm strength for needle felting. Strauch doesn't have a motorizing kit that you can purchase, but there are very detailed instructions on the website if you want to attempt it yourself. And when we called to ask Mr. Strauch a question, he was very helpful and kind. As soon as Mr. Woolpets designs some labels, there will be wool for sale. Not just any wool, special Romney needle felting wool!

Hay now!

I'm experimenting with my new camera today and took a photo of Hay Day!  A ton of orchard grass was delivered this morning.   I also took some photos of my sheep named Hazel with a needle felted Hedgehog riding on her back. Hope you all are entertained!

I am so excited!  I am finally getting the hang of taking photos, editing and posting them on my blog.  My hubby is usually in charge of photos and web stuff, I just tell him what to do(and needle felt, of course).  I decided I wanted to learn how to do all this cool computer stuff, so here are some photos that I'm posting for practice.  I meant to post a photo of the hay truck delivering hay today, but I accidentally deleted the photos!

Otter's Annual Pond Appearance

This morning after taking my dogs for a walk, I noticed this visitor in our pond! He (or she) was scratching his tummy on this old tree that lays across the middle of the pond.  There are lots of otters living around here, but I rarely see them in our pond.   The sheep barn is just up the hill from the pond, so maybe the otter was trying to talk the girls into going for a swim?   I thought it was really cool to see this otter, but lots of people around here say that they are pests.  Maybe I'll make a WoolPet otter.

Spring Hill Romney Farm

Today I went to Spring Hill Romney Farm to visit sheep and get some fleece to use in my WoolPets kits. Spring Hill is where my Romney girls Hazel and Merna were born. It's located in a lovely, lush valley near Chimicum, WA, about a 30 minute drive from my house. I bought 6 fleeces and then took a peek in the barn at the new lambs. This one almost went home with me!
