Class Pics

Thanks to all of the kind ladies who took the needle felting class at Wild and Wooly on Saturday. We had a lot of fun making penguins, sheep and a few polar bears.

Needle Felting Class at Wild and Wooly

This Saturday, I am teaching a needle felting class at Wild and Wooly .  The class is from 1pm to 4pm and we are going to make penguins and whatever else folks are interested in. Stop by and say hello if you're in the Poulsbo, Washington area. It's supposed to be cold and rainy here this weekend. Perfect weather for cozying up and doing some needle felting!
Stay tuned for Sheep Shearing photos and maybe even a video. This is your last week with wild wool, Hazel!

The Studio

Here is where it all happens. Well, not exactly all of it. My husband Kevin and I are working hard to finish up a book we're writing. This is the set-up for photographing the step-by-step instructions, like the ones in our Woolpets kits. The reason for the elaborate set up is so that Kevin can see how many screens he can fit into the studio space at once. Just kidding. He has to work on editing some wedding photos while I work on whatever project we're photographing at the time.  When I'm ready for the next step to be photographed, he clicks his laptop, which is connected to his camera, checks to see if the photo is good, and then moves on to the wedding stuff while I get the next step going. Pretty efficient. The man's a genius.

Sunday Afternoon Football and Woolpets

Around our house, Sunday afternoon in fall means watching the Seattle Seahawks and rounding up friends to put together Woolpets kits. Hawks won (not that I am a football fan) and friend Chris labeled 96 kits!  Kevinandchris

Here's Mr. Woolpets (My dear sweet hubby) enjoying some chili after a hard day's work. (Sandy's recipe of course.)

And then just for laughs, we broke out the Doggles (Goggles for dogs-who would've thought?) Boy did this send us rolling. Poor dogs were humiliated.

Puyallup Fair

I just spent the last two days working at the Puyallup Fair. The fair is held every fall for two weeks. This year I am participating in the 'Artists in Action' at the fair. There are about 20 or so artists of various mediums selling their work together. We each get a small display area and a 3 hour block of time during the run of the fair to demonstrate our art. I get to demo next Saturday night. All of the artists take turns working at the fair.
It seems that going to the fair is a long-time tradition for many people. I would love to hear stories of how people experience the fair and what interesting things have happened to them at the fair, other than getting sick on some of those crazy rides!
One of the things I found to be interesting is all of the displays of peoples 'collections'. There was a ladybug collection, an Eeyore collection, and a pez dispenser collection on display, just to name a few. There were people demonstrating woodcarving, pottery, painting, and spinning just to name a few. I am glad to have this opportunity to experience the fair from the inside and I look forward to this weekend when I'll be working again.
I'll add a photo album with some photos that I took at the fair. I always look to see if there are any needle felted projects on display and sure enough, I found some wonderful items made by Brenda Treibel. What an artists she is!
