After listening to the latest CraftSanity interview of Jen Segrest I started noticing the wonderful artwork found in pincushions.
I found this one at a thrift store-
Looks like a bunch of little Eskimo children doing a blanket toss.
The blanket toss originated from the Inupiat; the Inuit people of Alaska's Northwest Arctic region. The hunter was tossed up high in the blanket so that he could see over the horizon to look for game.
I love finding out the stories and history behind folk toys and everyday found objects. Do you have any interesting stories to share?

Love the story behind the pincushion. My sister collects them but she doesn't have one like this. I'll have to tell her the story! Better yet, I'll have her check out your post.
